BELGRADE – This spring will see the start of the construction of the first gondola with closed cabins for panoramic sightseeing in Serbia, which will link central Zlatibor with ski center Tornik, said Arsen Djuric, director of the Zlatibor Tourist Organization.

“The municipality of Cajetina has paid the advance of four million euros to French company Pomagalski, the equipment is being manufactired, and at the end of February we will invite a tender for a contractor so that the construction works could start in the spring. The gondola will become operational in 2016,” Djuric told Tanjug.

Zlatibor has become the top vacation spot in Serbia with 250,000 guests and over one million overnight stays annually, and we hope that the number of visitors will increase tenfold once the construction of the nine kilometer long, most modern cable car in Europe is finished, he said.

Djuric announced that new, first-class hotels Tornik and Iris will be opened on Mt. Zlatibor by the end of the year, adding that they will meet the demands of the choosiest guests in the various fields of tourism, including mountain, congress, wellness and spa.
